Year 11 & 12 Stanwell Visit
During this week, Year 11 and 12 students received valuable insights from Stanwell representatives regarding workplace skills including resume, cover letter, and interview preparation, which can be applied to various workplaces. Additionally, two of their apprentices shared the tasks they perform on a daily basis in their workplace. The session also highlighted apprenticeships and traineeships available at Stanwell for the year 2025. Students keen on exploring these opportunities were encouraged to engage in discussions with Stanwell staff.
Students and parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend the upcoming Information Night, Tuesday 28 May, 5pm to 7pm, Nanango State High School Hall.
Applications for the apprentice and trainee positions with Stanwell for 2025 are open from 27 May 2024 to 16 June 2024.

Year 10 Opportunity
Kingaroy SHS is a member of the STEC (School to Employment Connections) group, an organisation linking schools with local businesses. As part of being a member of this group, our Year 10 students are being given the opportunity to participate in a number of career streams, allowing them to explore various career paths.
There are two streams being offered for the upcoming excursion that is scheduled to happen on the 12 June 2024:
- Power Generation & Mechanical (Tarong Power Station & Ken Mills Toyota)
- Community Services/Manufacturing/Food Processing/Retail/Hospitality/Hairdressing/Media & Professional (Kingaroy TAFE and SB CTC)
A TAFE & Industry sponsored bus will collect students at 8:50am and return students to the school by 2:30pm. Letters have been given out to students. Spaces are limited to 25 students per stream.
PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning)
PBL is a comprehensive school-wide framework that encourages positive behaviour and helps create safe and supportive learning environments. At Kingaroy State High School, PBL is making a significant impact, with a decline in behavioural incidents and improved attendance. We are committed to recognising and rewarding positive student behaviour through the following methods:
RRR Awards: Each week, some students are recognised for demonstrating the three R's (Respect, Responsibility and Resilience) with a RRR Award.
KMP (Kingaroy Merit Points): This system acknowledges students who demonstrate the three R's. Each term, students who accumulate the required number of KMPs will receive a PBL Reward.
End-of Year Trips: To reward students who maintain good attendance, effort, and behaviour throughout the year, we organise special excursions. This year, Year 9 will visit Bli Bli Water Park, while Year 10 will go to Dreamworld. The criteria to attend these trips are as follows:
- Attendance at or above 90%
- No more than one suspension
- All assessment completed
- All school fees up to date
PBL Rewards Term 2:
Students will receive their PBL Reward if they reach 135 points by the end of Week 9. Students will have the choice of a soft serve ice cream or hot chips at the Athletics Carnival in Week 10. Please note that hot chips will not be able to be bought on rewards day and ice cream will not be on sale at the Athletics Carnival to all students.

Year 7 News
Student of the Week Winners!
Each week on Year 7 parade, a student from each form class is awarded a Student of the Week award. These awards are presented to students who demonstrate one or more of the positive attributes: show leadership, help their peers, do what they are asked first time, show initiative, are resilient, great manners, get involved in extra-curricular activities and many more. Weekly award winners get to choose a prize from Ms Maudsley’s prize box. However, a couple of times in the term, those who have been a weekly award winner then go in a draw to win a $5 canteen voucher. Congratulations to these awesome Year 7 students who are leading the way.
Year 7 volunteers
Last Friday, a number of Year 7 students were provided with the opportunity to give back by umpiring/refereeing at the Primary Schools' Winter Carnival in Kingaroy. We had students help in basketball, netball, touch and soccer. From all reports they both had a great time, and were an excellent help and did themselves and our school proud.
Some of the Year 7s shared their thoughts around their umpiring experiences.
Jake P - "It was a great day out and we got to meet a lot of new people."
Natrell – “It was really fun – I’d like to do it every year."
Lucas – “I really enjoyed seeing the primary school students again."
Kimi – "It was a good experience – we also had to opportunity to teach them how to play netball."
Jake R – "I learnt that there are different rules for the different divisions."
Hudson – "It was exciting, a nice way to catch up with students from my old school. I enjoyed it so much that I now want to learn to learn more rules to referee club games."
Braxton - "I learnt how important it is to follow directions and to give clear instructions."
Mason – “It was nice to go back and give back to my primary school and see all the students at school."
What a great group who are contributing to our community!
What a fantastic group making a positive impact on our community!

Changes to Report Card Issuing
Transitioning to QParents: A New Era for Report Cards
Beginning this term, report cards will be issued through the QParents App, marking a significant shift towards a more efficient system for our school community.
What to Expect:
The transition process will commence at the end of this term. Unit 1 reports for Year 11 students will be available through QParents on the 31st May, followed by an email copy on the 14th of June. For students in Year 7-10, report cards will be first released through the QParents App on the 10th of July. This will be followed by a secondary distribution through the old system via email on the 24th of July. Please note that Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on the 15th of July, so if you would like to discuss your student's results, you will need to have access to QParents prior to the interviews.
Finalising the Change:
After the 24th of July, the old system for distributing report cards will be officially retired. From that point forward, all future reports will be exclusively issued through the QParents App.
Requesting Email Reports:
Moving forward, report cards will only be emailed upon individual request. Should you require a report to be sent via email instead of accessing it through the QParents App, please reach out to the school administration for assistance.
Why QParents?
The adoption of the QParents App aligns with our commitment to enhance communication and engagement between the school, students, and parents. This digital platform offers secure and convenient access to academic information, ensuring timely delivery of important updates and reports. QParents will allow you to access all historical report cards for your student, so you never have to go searching through your emails again.
How to Access QParents:
For those who haven't yet downloaded the QParents App, we encourage you to do so to ensure seamless access to your child's report cards and other school-related communications. The app is available for download on both iOS and Android devices. If you have not received an invitation, please get in touch with the school on 4160 0666 or enquiries@kingaroyshs.eq.edu.au
We are confident that this transition will streamline the report card distribution process and provide a more efficient means of communication. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please don't hesitate to contact the school administration for clarification.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to embracing this new chapter in our school's communication strategy.
