Welcome to Kingaroy State High School!!
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you and your child to Kingaroy State High School as part of our Year 7 community. We are excited to embark on this important chapter in your child's educational journey, and we are committed to providing a supportive and engaging environment where every student can thrive.
Important Information for the First Week
Tuesday 28th January- Welcome!
When students first arrive at school, they will farewell their parents/carers at the front courts and then proceed directly to the Indoor Sports Centre when the bell rings at 8.55am, where they will be welcomed by the Year 7 team. Students will meet their peers, receive essential information, and begin the day in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Our staff will guide them through the day's activities, ensuring they are well-prepared for the journey ahead. Please be sure to bring your pencil case and book supplies.
Wednesday 29th January – A Normal First Day of School
Please be aware that Wednesday will be a normal first day of school. Ensure your child is prepared and has all necessary resources for their lessons. We recommend that students bring their school supplies, a water bottle, lunch, and any required materials. It will be a busy and exciting day, and being well-prepared will help your child feel confident as they begin their high school experience. Students will meet at the bottom of U Block at the start of the day.
Thursday, 28th January – Unleashing Personal Potential Program
We are thrilled to introduce the Unleashing Personal Potential Program to Kingaroy SHS, where they will work with our Year 7 students focusing on ‘Strong Connections’. The sessions are designed to support students to build essential personal and social skills, enhancing the quality and quantity of their interpersonal interactions.
Session 1: Making New Connections – Students will explore strategies for meeting new people, forming relationships, and developing a strong support network.
Session 2: Growing My Connections – This session will focus on building and nurturing those connections, helping students grow their friendships and social circles in a meaningful way.
These sessions will provide an excellent opportunity for Year 7 students to develop their confidence and interpersonal skills as they settle into their new school environment.
Friday 31st January- Swimming Carnival
Year 7 students will be participating in the swimming carnival from 12:15pm- 3pm. Please make sure your child is equipped to participate either in the competitive or novelty events. Keep your eye out for a permission letter that will be coming home on the first day of school. We require this signed form in order for your student to be able to attend the swimming carnival, so please return it to school ASAP. If the form doesn't appear in your student's bag, you can find a copy here to fill in and return - this can be done by email to enquiries@kingaroyshs.eq.edu.au or return a hard copy to school.
Students are required to be prepared for a normal school morning in Period 1 and 2.

QParents
We encourage you to stay actively involved in your child’s school life and maintain open lines of communication with the school. Your partnership is vital in ensuring that your child’s experience at Kingaroy State High School is a positive and successful one. As part of this partnership, we ask that all parents enrol in QParents, our online platform, where you will be able to access important information, track your child's progress, and communicate with teachers. This will ensure you remain well-informed and connected throughout the school year.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
We look forward to working together with you to make Year 7 a memorable and rewarding year for your child.
