Principal's Message
Senior School

Congratulations to all students who have made a “STRONG START”. Every day really counts to ensure student success in Years 11 and 12. All students should have a study plan and have checked that there is balance with school/work/other commitments.
Year 11 subject changes have been completed, and all students should be working hard in their chosen subjects. Any required changes can be made at the end of Unit 1; for implementation in Unit 2, beginning Monday, 26 May.
At this year’s Year 12 Leadership camp, 12-14 February, at the Sunshine Coast, students and staff completed a variety of activities, had a great time, bonded with their cohort and further developed many life skills. Congratulations to Mrs Krysty Connelly and the staff who helped make it a highlight of their final school year.
Year 11 students attended a presentation from the International Legends of League yesterday. As part of their Dream, Believe, Achieve program, the legends shared some inspiring personal messages with our students. There is a big Legends Game this Saturday at TJ O’Neill Oval.
A huge thankyou to the Legends of League team and Queensland Sport and Recreation for inspiring our Year 11 Students to chase their dreams, be resilient and always give their best.
A reminder that students driving to school are required to complete the STUDENT DRIVER AND PASSENGER PERMISSION FORM and return it to the Office.
Investiture ceremony is 10.20am, Monday 24 February. Parents and caregivers of student leaders are invited to join us.
Year 12 Parent Information Night is 6pm, Thursday 27 February, in KPAC.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Year 7 Meet and Greet: A Celebration of Community and Connection

On Tuesday 11th February, the school hosted a fantastic Year 7 Meet and Greet event, bringing together families, students, and staff in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The event offered the perfect opportunity for families to connect with the school community, meet their child’s teachers, and celebrate the beginning of this exciting journey.
The afternoon was filled with warmth and excitement, as families enjoyed delicious food, relaxed on the iLibrary lawn, and listened to live music from The Paradox, creating a lively and engaging ambiance. With music in the air, laughter and conversations flowed, reflecting the strong sense of camaraderie that we are so proud of here at Kingaroy State High School.
It was heartening to see families from all walks of life come together, not only to support their children but also to build lasting relationships with staff and fellow parents. The event was an excellent reminder of the importance of community as we embark on a new academic year, and we are grateful to everyone who attended for making it such a memorable occasion.
We look forward to more events like this as we continue to foster a sense of belonging and unity. Thank you to all who made the event possible, and we can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds for our Year 7 students!

Year 8 Students off to a Fantastic Start!
The Year 8 cohort has started the year on a high note! Students have consistently demonstrated their commitment to learning by arriving each day in the correct uniform, bringing all required equipment, and, most importantly, displaying a positive attitude.
It has been wonderful to see students embracing their studies with enthusiasm and engaging in their lessons with focus and determination. Their preparedness and respectful approach set a great foundation for success in 2025.
Since the start of term, the Year 8 team have spent a large portion of their time visiting Year 8 classes and seeing the fantastic teaching and learning that is taking place.
In co-curricular activities, Hayden was recognised for his participation in the Wide Bay triathlon trials last weekend.
In giving to their community, five Year 8 girls, Emily, Danieka, Macie, Ella and Katelyn did themselves and the school proud when they assisted at the Primary Schools Gala Day for netball. Feedback was that they were outstanding, they spoke to the primary school students to explain the rules and help them in a supportive tone and with great explanations, and they showed initiative in many ways. Great effort girls!
We encourage all Year 8 students to continue this great momentum throughout the term. Keep up the great work, students!
Ms Maudsley, Mr Mackay, Mr Stevens and Mrs Reddacliff

Year 12 Camp

Last Wednesday, the Year 12 Leadership Students started their year with a three-day camp at Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre. The students participated in a range of activities during the days including high ropes, canoeing, archery zone, team challenge, Indigenous games, beach games and caving.
On the first night, students completed Committee Planning for 2025. Each committee have planned their activities for throughout the year. On the second night, students attended the pool and completed challenges within form classes and sporting houses.
After enjoying lunch, the Year 12 students boarded the bus, reflecting on their unforgettable experience. Tired but happy, they were ready for a weekend of rest before tackling their final year.
A huge thank you to Miss Sprake, Miss Follett, Miss Penfold, Mr Guinane, Mr Braganza, Mr Reiger and Mr Maddern for supporting our students.
Mrs Krysty Connelly
Year 12 Year Level Coordinator
